Jack is a walking fossil. The only human among a sea of clones. It’s been hundreds of years since humanity died off in the slow plague, leaving the clones behind to carry on human existence. Over time they’ve perfected their genes, moving further away from the imperfections of humanity. But if they really are perfect, why did they create Jack?
While Jack longs for acceptance, Althea-310 struggles with the feeling that she’s different from her sisters. Her fascination with Jack doesn’t help. As Althea and Jack’s connection grows stronger, so does the threat to their lives. What will happen if they do the unthinkable and fall in love?
Barnes & Noble:
Your One and Only by Adrianne Finlay was not what I was expecting, but I loved it so much - it was absolutely amazing and original about a boy who happens to be the only human left on Earth, while everybody else is a clone, because the human race has died off from a plague.
I loved how different this is from every other book I've read - it's not your average YA sci-fi novel, where the outsiders or aliens are something other than human. In this novel, the outsider is the human, and I loved how the book stands out because of that.
I really liked Jack and Althea, and I liked to see how they developed as individual characters and how their relationship developed between the two of them. They were both very relatable and you grew to care about this as you progressed through the story.
I would highly recommend this novel if you are looking for something different and you are a fan of YA sci-fi.
